'....all students deserve an opportunity to participate in rigorous and academically challenging courses and programs.
We believe
All students who are prepared and willing to accept the challenge of a rigorous academic curriculum should be considered for admission to AP courses.' http://professionals.collegeboard.com/k-12/assessment/ap/equityAP
Advanced Placement Program (AP) courses give you a head start on college while you’re still in the supportive environment of a high school classroom. Taking the end-of-course AP Exam sends a powerful message to colleges and universities that you’re ready for them, and can enable you to gain admission, college credit, and placement into advanced courses.
What’s special about AP?
v Skills honed in AP classes can help you improve your work in other courses and even in college.
v Discussions are intense, probing, and demanding.
v AP students are required to think for themselves, not give answers that are intended to please the teacher.
v AP homework involves thinking for yourself, expressing your ideas, and analyzing what you read. Busywork is not a part of the course.
v AP classes teach students to analyze, reason, and understand the world from a unique vantage point-their own
Why should I take the AP exam?
v Stand out in the admissions process- AP exams say that you have already gone through the process of taking a rigorous college-level course.
v Earn Academic scholarships or awards- AP grades are considered a big difference when it comes to awarding scholarship dollars.
v Experience a college-level test- Do not be taken by surprise facing the intensity of a college exam.
v Be a step ahead- You would have already done the prep work for the corresponding college course.
